Lectures at Undergraduate Programme in English Literature (UPEL) are designed for eight semesters. Teaching and learning in UPEL employ the Semester Credit System (SCS), in which each subject, generally, weighs at least 2 credits and a maximum of 4 credits for the final project (thesis). This system requires students to attend 80% of the face-to-face class session of each subject.
The UPEL curriculum has a total weight of 144 credits. Each academic year consists of two semesters, the first in the beginning of the academic year (ATA) and the second in the end of the academic year (PTA). Each semester consists of 16 weeks, in which the 2 of meetings used for the mid and final-term test. The maximum number of credits in one semester is 24 credits.
