Strengthening International Cooperation: BIPA Training for Faculty Members from Millat Umidi University, Uzbekistan, at UGTP Cianjur
Gunadarma University has once again demonstrated its commitment to strengthening the internationalization of education through a BIPA (Indonesian for Foreign Speakers) training program for faculty members from Millat Umidi University. The event was held on August 1, 2025, at the UG Teaching Park (UGTP) in Cianjur, West Java.
The training program featured two academics and BIPA experts from Jakarta State University: Prof. Dr. Ilza Mahyuni, MA., and Prof. Dr. Liliana Muliastuti, MPd. During the session, participants received intensive instruction on teaching Indonesian to foreign speakers, covering topics ranging from teaching strategies and an introduction to Indonesian culture to communication practices in both academic and social contexts.
The session was conducted interactively in a warm and collaborative learning environment. The instructors from Uzbekistan demonstrated high enthusiasm for learning Indonesian while also gaining an understanding of the cultural aspects that play a vital role in BIPA instruction. In addition to language proficiency, participants were introduced to Indonesian cultural values that can support more effective cross-cultural communication.
Holding the event at the UGTP Cianjur campus provided a unique learning experience for the international participants. The beautiful and conducive environment supported the learning process while also serving as a means to introduce the richness of Indonesian culture and local atmosphere to the participants from Uzbekistan.
This program is a tangible example of strengthening international cooperation between Gunadarma University and various universities in Uzbekistan. Through academic collaborations such as this, it is hoped that closer ties will be forged in the fields of education, human resource development, cultural exchange, and opportunities for future research and teaching collaboration.
As an institution that continues to promote internationalization, Gunadarma University strives to offer various collaborative programs that can expand its global network while introducing the Indonesian language and culture to the international community.
