The Chief Executive of Cambridge Assessment English is Francesca Woodward.<sup id=\"cite_ref-3\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup><\/p>\n<p>The organisation contributed to the development of the\u00a0<a title=\"Common European Framework of Reference for Languages\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Common_European_Framework_of_Reference_for_Languages\">Common European Framework of Reference for Languages<\/a>\u00a0(CEFR), the standard used around the world to benchmark language skills.\u00a0<sup id=\"cite_ref-4\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup>Its qualifications and tests are aligned with the levels of the CEFR.<sup id=\"cite_ref-5\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup><\/p>\n<p>Cambridge Assessment English develops and produces\u00a0<a title=\"Cambridge English Qualifications\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cambridge_English_Qualifications\">Cambridge English Qualifications<\/a>, courses and tests and\u00a0<a title=\"International English Language Testing System\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/International_English_Language_Testing_System\">IELTS<\/a>, of which Cambridge Assessment English is an owner.<\/p>\n<p>Cambridge Assessment English was involved in the early development of the CEFR and all Cambridge English qualifications and tests are aligned with the levels described by the CEFR.<\/p>\n<p>Cambridge English Qualifications target particular levels of the CEFR and candidates are encouraged to take the exam most suitable to their needs and level of ability. While each exam focuses on a particular CEFR level, the exam also contains test material at the adjacent levels (e.g. B2 First is aimed at B2, but there are also test items that cover B1 and C1).
